
The police have obtained four-day physical remand from a court of the prime suspect in the Syeda Sania Zahra case.
The suspect, Ali Raza, has been transported to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) in Lahore for comprehensive DNA and polygraph tests.
According to a statement issued by the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), all nominated co-accused, including servants present on the day of the incident, have also been taken to the PFSA for tests.
Multan Cantonment Superintendent of Police Rana Tahir is overseeing the proceedings at the PFSA. The PFSA director general confirmed that the DNA tests of all 13 individuals would be prioritised, followed by polygraph tests of four of them.
Sania Zahra had been found hanged in her home on July 9. The incident was Initially believed to be of suicide, but woman’s father Syed Asad Abbas Shah subsequently lodged a murder case against her husband Ali Raza and his family members, his parents, brother, sister and sister-in-law.
The case was registered under Section 302 (murder) and other provisions.
Subsequently, Ali surrendered to the police after denying the murder charges and claiming
that his wife had committed suicide due to family issues.
