Punjab govt set to launch 'Apni Chhat Apna Ghar' housing scheme on August 14
The Punjab government will launch the "Apni Chaat Apna Ghar" program on August 14, aiming to provide housing solutions for residents.
The program has received principal approval for three different housing models, with a detailed briefing conducted under the chairmanship of Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
As part of the pilot phase, model homes have been prepared for the "Apni Chhat Apna Ghar" program.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif instructed that living rooms be included in the design of these model homes and announced the introduction of a toll-free number for public convenience.
Under Maryam Nawaz's directive, the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will develop a special portal for the program, enabling interested applicants to submit online applications from home.
During a detailed briefing, Secretary of Housing, Captain (R) Asadullah Khan, explained that application forms for the program will be available at the offices of Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners.
Plot owners ranging from one to five marlas can apply for interest-free loans to construct their homes. The Chief Minister also emphasised providing easy instalment plans for loan repayment to homeowners.
The briefing highlighted that PC-I approval for the construction of ground and three-story apartments on government land has been granted, with feasibility studies to follow soon.
In private schemes, three and five marla houses will be allotted to Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) allottees, who will have a five-year instalment plan to pay for the homes.
Additionally, the Punjab government will offer subsidies to reduce the cost burden on homeowners in private schemes.
Up to 70,000 plot owners in any city or village will be eligible for loans, with interest-free loans available for plots up to five marlas.
The Punjab government will cover service charges for loan disbursements through microfinance institutions.
The meeting was attended by Senator Pervez Rasheed, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, and other officials.
