Clinton Kane admits "mistakes" after ex Brooke Schofield accuses him of faking family’s death

Kane and Schofield reportedly dated for six months in 2022.

The internet drama between exes Brooke Schofield and Clinton Kane has taken social media by storm, drawing widespread attention and engagement. 

Brooke Schofield, a podcaster and content creator, accused singer Clinton Kane of fabricating his family's death among other claims, igniting a highly publicized online feud.

The controversy erupted when Clinton, who boasts about 2 million followers on TikTok, posted a video promoting a new song with text reading, "When you’ve been over the relationship for two years, but she won’t stop yapping." 

This indirect reference to Brooke sparked a series of retaliatory videos from her, detailing alleged lies Clinton told during their relationship. Brooke's 16-part video series, which has amassed over 121 million views, included accusations of Clinton lying about his age and his mother's death.

Social media users largely sided with Brooke, accusing Clinton of emotional abuse and manipulation. Clinton responded with his own 30-part video series, denying many of Brooke's claims. His videos have garnered 69 million views, though he disabled comments to avoid further backlash.

The feud gained further attention when Vice President Kamala Harris' office used audio from one of Brooke's videos in a TikTok video mocking former President Donald Trump. 

This video has garnered over 21 million views, highlighting the widespread intrigue surrounding the Brooke and Clinton saga.

In an interview with Zach Sang in 2022, Clinton claimed that his mom, brother, and dad all died in the same year. He mentioned that one of his songs was about "grieving the death of his mom, with whom he’d had a complicated relationship," according to Time. 

However, Brooke and Tana Mongeau later disputed these claims, asserting that Clinton had previously stated he was not in contact with his biological mother but had a "mother figure."

In a TikTok video, Brooke recounted confronting Clinton about his alleged lies. “Clinton made me feel so f- -king horrible for ever possibly accusing him of lying about something like that,” she said. “I felt so disgusting and so guilty. I thought I was going crazy.”

In a subsequent interview with Time, Clinton admitted to making "mistakes" in his relationship with Brooke. He reflected on the pressure public figures face, stating, “How does anyone grow as a human being as a person if they don't make mistakes? I think that's the saddest part about it because I did highlight the mistakes, and I took accountability for the mistakes I made in that relationship.” 

He added, “There’s nothing I can do to change anyone’s mind; you believe what you believe, and I totally respect that.”
