ISLAMABAD:

The Ministry of Education has announced that pink buses reserved for women will start plying the roads of the federal capital from August 7.

The pink buses, with the slogan “Na Dar, Na Rukawat” (“No Fear, No Obstacle”), aim to provide women and female students with a safe and convenient travel option. This initiative ensures optimal travel and accessibility, connecting rural areas with urban centers and educational institutions across Islamabad.

Principal of ICG Islamabad, Saba Faisal, hailed the initiative, highlighting its significance for the women’s convenience. She emphasised that the pink bus service would safely transport girls, female teachers, and other working women from rural areas to urban centres. Faisal said that the tagline, “No Fear, No Barrier,” beautifully encapsulates the essence of the initiative.

The PM has announced the federal government and the Ministry of Education will cover all expenses for the project. According to MoU’s Deputy Secretary, Zulfiqar Ali Sameen, the purpose of introducing the free pink bus service is to utilise some of the buses that were either unused or had minor issues in some of the schools.
