PAC exhibits female students’ artwork

RAWALPINDI:

Punjab Arts Council (PAC) organised an art exhibition in collaboration with Rawalpindi Women University.

The artworks were created around the theme of women’s societal hardships, highlighting the oppression and challenges they face owing to patriarchal social norms. Students’ art depicted women trapped in the cycle of unpaid domestic labour and also commented on the mundane fragility of life through drawings of the real, skeletal structure beneath the human skin.

The chief guest at the exhibition was the Vice Chancellor of Rawalpindi Women University, Dr Anila Kamal. Director of the Arts Council, Sajjad Hussain, and renowned curator D. Arjumand Faisal also attended the exhibition as special guests.

In her address to the participants, the chief guest, Dr Anila Kamal, said “Each painting is unique and holds hundreds of emotions within it.
