K-P writes letter to PHC on May 9 judicial commission

PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has received a letter from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government for the formation of a judicial commission on the May 9 rioting.

The provincial government has requested the PHC to nominate judges for commission, as per the law.

PHC officials told The Express Tribune that that they received a letter from the provincial government regarding the establishment of a judicial commission.

Currently, consultations are underway and a final decision will be taken very soon. The application has been sent by the Advocate General K-P, requesting the formation of a judicial commission or tribunal to conduct a transparent investigation into the May 9 incidents.

The provincial government has requested the Chief Justice PHC to appoint a judge to head the commission, inquiry, or tribunal.
