LEICESTER:

An abandoned theme park in the UK is set to become the stage for a spine-chilling Halloween spectacle as it hosts the popular Scare City event, promising guests a truly terrifying experience.

The event, now in its fifth year, will transform the derelict Camelot theme park in Chorley, Lancashire, into a horror-filled landscape. Organisers guarantee that visitors will leave "believing in pure evil" as they navigate the award-winning scare-fest, which features 11 petrifying zones concealed within the depths of the abandoned park.

Bigger, Better, and Bloodier

Set against the eerie backdrop of the deserted Camelot theme park, the organisers have promised that this year’s event will be "bigger, better, and bloodier than ever before," according to a report from the Daily Star. The relentless horror trail combines intricate set designs with live actors across multiple zones, aiming to scare the living daylights out of brave attendees.

This year's scare zones include the infamous Slaughter House, home to Camelot’s resident cannibal who has scheduled his annual dinner party, alongside the sinister Junkyard and the bone-chilling Reaper’s Reach. Visitors are also being warned about the unveiling of a new zone, 'Arakhne', where they will face the terrifying ordeal of entering the spider queen's web and encountering eerie creatures along the journey.

In the midst of the screams and terror, the 'Resurrection Zone' offers a respite for visitors, providing food and drinks for a mid-way pit stop. This area allows thrill-seekers to refuel before venturing back into the abandoned site for more spine-chilling experiences.

A Chilling History

Launched originally as a drive-in cinema event in Manchester in 2020, Scare City has grown in popularity and was recently awarded the title of Best Scare Attraction of 2023 by ScareTrack. Their website teases terrifying SFX and hair-raising encounters, promising an unparalleled Halloween event.

The line-up for this year includes zones such as Slaughterhouse, Carnivalley, Arakhne, Basilica of Galgani, Infirmary, Reaper’s Ranch, Junkyard, Vallis Mortis, Resurrection Zone, and Contained.

The event is set to commence on Saturday, September 26, and will run until mid-November, providing weeks of fright-filled entertainment for those daring enough to attend.
