Homeless man kills another homeless man in Palo Alto

A homeless man faces homicide charges after the death of a fellow homeless man in Palo Alto, California.

A homeless man has been arrested and charged with homicide following the death of a fellow homeless man in Palo Alto.

Alvaro Javier Lopez, 34, is accused of killing 60-year-old James Allen Rudolph. Rudolph was discovered deceased on the first floor of the City Lot "S" parking garage at 445 Bryant St., Palo Alto.

The Palo Alto Fire Department responded to emergency calls reporting a "person down" at the parking facility. According to the Santa Clara County Coroner, Rudolph died from blunt force trauma to the head, which has been classified as a homicide.

Lopez was apprehended shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday at City Lot "R" on 528 High Street and subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on homicide charges.

Despite Lopez's arrest, the investigation is ongoing as authorities process a significant amount of evidence. No motive has been disclosed, and it remains unclear if additional suspects were involved.
