Elizabeth Taylor's candid reflections on her turbulent marriage to Eddie Fisher are revealed in the upcoming HBO documentary, Elizabeth Taylor: The Lost Tapes. In these unearthed audio interviews, the iconic actress expresses deep regret over their union, describing it as "one big friggin' awful mistake."   

Taylor candidly admits she never loved Fisher and only married him out of shared grief over the death of her third husband, Mike Todd. She recalls feeling isolated and trapped in the marriage, leading to a suicide attempt with sleeping pills.   

The documentary also delves into the scandal surrounding their marriage, as Fisher was married to Debbie Reynolds at the time. Taylor's candidness about her struggles with loneliness and depression during this period offers a raw and intimate look into her life.   

Despite the dark revelations, Taylor ultimately came to see her suicide attempt as "self-indulgent" and harmful to her children. The documentary, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, promises to shed new light on the iconic actress's life and relationships.
