Molly Kearney has officially exited Saturday Night Live after a notable two-season stint. The comedian, who made history as the first non-binary cast member of the iconic sketch show, shared the news of their departure via Instagram on August 2.

In a heartfelt post, Kearney reflected on their time with the show and expressed gratitude for the experience.

“Y’all that’s a wrap on my time on SNL! Reflecting on the amazing 2 seasons I got on this show, it was such a dream come true,” Kearney wrote. They went on to thank the crew and fellow cast members, noting their appreciation for the support and friendship.

“So much love to all my big-hearted buddies behind the scenes who make the magic happen every week,” they added, acknowledging the hard work that goes into producing the show.

Kearney’s departure comes just one day after fellow cast member Punkie Johnson also announced her exit from the show. In a video posted on August 1, Johnson revealed she would not be returning for the 50th season of SNL.

Johnson, who had been with the show for four seasons, confirmed that there were no hard feelings about her departure. “I love my people. I ain’t think none of this was going to be a big deal,” Johnson said, addressing her fans and clarifying that her decision was made with a positive spirit.

Kearney’s tenure on SNL was marked by their pioneering role as a non-binary performer, and their exit signals the end of a significant chapter for the show. As they look forward to new opportunities, Kearney expressed their excitement about the future while celebrating their time at Studio 8H.
