Dylan Sprouse has candidly shared his feelings about the period when his twin brother, Cole Sprouse, was working on Riverdale. In an interview on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live on August 1, Dylan revealed that while he wasn't envious of Cole's role on the CW show, he struggled with their separation.
Reflecting on the six years Cole spent filming Riverdale in Vancouver, Dylan expressed that the hardest part for him was missing out on seeing his brother frequently. "I would say that the biggest thing that sucked was that I just didn't get to see my brother as often," Dylan explained. "He was up in Vancouver filming that."
Dylan described the show as a "moody, strange" experience for Cole, noting the challenges of shooting in a city that often felt like a "ghost town" due to its mostly night shoots. Despite understanding the demands of the job, Dylan mentioned that Cole wasn't particularly fond of the filming conditions, though he appreciated the bond with the cast and crew.
The CW series, which also featured KJ Apa, Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, and Madelaine Petsch, concluded on August 23, 2023. Cole had previously discussed his mixed feelings about the show, mentioning to GQ in 2022 that he and his co-stars were eager to "wrap [the show] up with a bow" due to frustrations with the lack of creative control. Despite this, he acknowledged the significant opportunity Riverdale provided and expressed gratitude for the show's success.
With Riverdale now in the rearview, Dylan, who is currently starring in The Duel, is looking forward to potential future collaborations with Cole. However, he noted that finding suitable roles for twins can be challenging. On Live with Kelly and Mark on July 31, Dylan mentioned that while there are limited roles specifically for twins, he and Cole are hopeful for opportunities that will allow them to work together again.
