Funerals in absentia held for Haniyeh
On the request of the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League (PMML), the funeral prayers in absentia for Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh were held across the city on Friday. PMML President for Sindh and Balochistan, Faisal Nadeem, led the prayer on Khalid Bin Waleed Road. Thousands of attendees and party members were present at the event.
During his address, Nadeem described Ismail Haniyeh as a martyr who had fulfilled his duty. He noted that Haniyeh's family members had also sacrificed their lives in the fight for the liberation of Al-Quds. Nadeem emphasised that Israel cannot extinguish the Palestinian spirit of martyrdom.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) held its own funeral prayers for Ismail Haniyeh at Rizwan Mosque in Federal B area.
The prayers were led by JI Karachi Chief Munem Zafar Khan. A large crowd attended the prayers, paying tribute to Ismail Haniyeh and expressing strong solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine. Zafar stated that Haniyeh's life exemplified resistance, jihad, and patience, and noted that the children of Palestine are laying down their lives in the struggle for the liberation of the first Qibla.
Additionally, Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST) also held funeral prayers at Qadri House in Karachi. PST President Engineer Muhammad Sarwat Ijaz Qadri remarked that Israel is unsettled by the courage of the Palestinians. "Striking from behind has always been a characteristic of disbelievers. Israel has never been able to withstand leaders like Ismail Haniyeh", he said. His martyrdom was the result of a conspiracy and represents a significant tragedy for the Muslim Ummah.
