Disney actor Joshua Bassett shares spiritual experience with hallucinogen Ayahuasca

Joshua Bassett revealed a profound spiritual experience he had while using the hallucinogen Ayahuasca, during an appearance on the Zach Sang Show. The 23-year-old actor and singer, known for his roles in Stuck in the Middle and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, detailed the transformative event which led him to embrace religion.

Bassett, originally from Oceanside, California, shared that he had struggled with addiction and experimented with various narcotics, including magic mushrooms and Ayahuasca. On his second encounter with Ayahuasca, Bassett described a vivid and intense experience. "I wake up - immediately I felt naked, and by naked, I meant spiritually naked, where there was no filter, no veil," he said. He explained that he saw the "ugliness" within himself and others in the room.

During the Ayahuasca experience, Bassett recounted a harrowing vision where he felt his soul falling into hell, surrounded by demons mocking and torturing him. He also mentioned a moment of seeing Jesus in the sky, which he found both comforting and terrifying. "It was the most insane experience of my life, and I was immediately filled with like a relief, but like a terror there’s more to the spiritual world that I’m aware," Bassett stated.

Bassett acknowledged that listeners might be skeptical, but he insisted on the reality of his experience. "As real as I know that I am here right now, I know that this was a real experience," he affirmed.
