Kyle Rittenhouse backs Ron Paul over Trump for President due to Second Amendment stance

Rittenhouse announced he will write in Ron Paul for President, criticizing Trump’s stance on Second Amendment rights.

Kyle Rittenhouse recently announced that he will not be voting for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming November election. 

In a video posted to his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Rittenhouse declared, "I will be writing in Ron Paul for president of the United States." He cited his dissatisfaction with Trump's stance on the Second Amendment as the primary reason for his decision.

"Unfortunately, Donald Trump had bad advisers, making him bad on the Second Amendment, and that is my issue," Rittenhouse stated, emphasising that he cannot support a candidate who is not "completely uncompromisable" on gun rights. He further explained, "We need champions for the Second Amendment or our rights would be eaten away and eroded each day."

Rittenhouse, who is currently the Outreach Director for Texas Gun Rights, expressed excitement about meeting Ron Paul, the former Texas congressman. He shared a photo with Paul on social media, captioning it, "There aren't many people in this world that I get excited to meet but meeting @RonPaul was an incredible pleasure."

In 2020, Rittenhouse shot three people during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, resulting in two fatalities. He was later acquitted of all charges, claiming self-defence. Following the acquittal, Rittenhouse met with Trump, who described him as a "fan."
