Govt to launch major shrimp farming project

Private sector to be provided subsidy, facilities

LAHORE:

One of the country’s biggest shrimp farm projects will be launched in Punjab during the current year.

According to a statement, shrimp farming will be undertaken on 1,000 acres of land for the first time in the province.

The Punjab government will provide subsidies, land and other necessary facilities for the project.

On the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a decision has been made to launch a research project for fisheries and shrimp farming.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb met a delegation of the Fisheries Farms Association and assured it of extensive cooperation of the government for launching the project. It was agreed during the meeting to promote collaboration with all stakeholders for launching the project.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the private sector will be provided all possible assistance for launching the fisheries and shrimp farm project.
