Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are once again pushing ahead with divorce after a final attempt at reconciliation in recent weeks failed, as claimed by friends. DailyMail.com

The couple's divorce papers “are finalized, but not  turned in”, multiple sources told DailyMail.com.

This news came shortly after Affleck bought a $20.5 million mansion in the Pacific Palisades on Wednesday, July 24, coinciding with Lopez's 55th birthday.

Friends of Lopez said that Affleck’s timing in buying the bachelor pad on her birthday felt like a “stab to the heart.”

The purchase was just days after the couple put their Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $68 million.

Additionally, on July 24, Lopez completed the sale of her four-bedroom penthouse in New York City for $23 million, according to People.

“They finalized the divorce papers with her a month ago, but are waiting for the right time to drop them,” one source close to the duo claimed.

“At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work, but couldn't.”

“Honestly, in the end they could not come to a compromise. What they had before is gone and they have both accepted it,” another source claimed.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Affleck and Lopez's representatives for comments.

The couple was last seen together on March 30. Since then, they have spent the summer separately, with Jennifer primarily on the East Coast and Ben staying in Los Angeles.

They even spent their second wedding anniversary on July 16th in different locations.

Rumors of marital issues between Affleck and Lopez started in May when sources close to them revealed that Ben had moved into a $100,000 rental and they planned to sell their “dream home.”
