Amelia Dimoldenberg to star in and produce Orion romantic comedy for Amazon MGM

Amelia Dimoldenberg is set to star in and produce a romantic comedy for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures, Variety reports.

The Chicken Shop Date creator and host will play a by-the-book journalist whose carefully planned life unravels when a routine celebrity interview unexpectedly turns into a romance that makes her question everything she believes about love. 

The film will be produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions, the company behind Booksmart and Will & Harper, alongside Dimoldenberg. Sarah Heyward has been attached to write the screenplay. Gloria Sanchez is led by Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell and has recently produced You’re Cordially Invited for Amazon, starring Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, as well as the forthcoming feature Judgment Day with Ferrell and Zac Efron. The company is also in production on The Fifth Wheel for Netflix and previously backed the Emmy-nominated series Dead to Me.

Dimoldenberg’s rise has been driven by Chicken Shop Date, in which she interviews high-profile guests including Jennifer Lawrence and Charli XCX in London fried chicken restaurants. The series is commissioned under her production banner, Dimz, Inc, which also produces Passenger Princess.

She has served as the Academy Awards red carpet correspondent for two consecutive years and is scheduled to return for a third appearance in March. Last August, she launched Dimz, Inc. Academy to improve access to the creative media industries for young people from diverse backgrounds.
