Drama in Tribeca: Ella Emhoff's secrets service clash sparks arrest

Altercation peaked when the individual ripped a licence plate off a Secret Service vehicle

Kamala Harris' stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, encountered an incident in New York City involving her Secret Service detail, which resulted in an arrest.

According to law enforcement sources, Ella Emhoff, daughter of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, was dining in the Tribeca neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon. While she was inside a restaurant, her Secret Service agents, dressed in plain clothes, were stationed outside.

During this time, one of the agents had an altercation with an individual described as an "anti-police watcher." This person typically protests against NYPD parking placards, which allow law enforcement vehicles to park without circling the block.

The situation escalated when the individual approached the agent, mistaking him for a police officer abusing parking privileges. An argument ensued, part of which was captured on video obtained by TMZ. The confrontation peaked when the individual ripped a license plate off one of the Secret Service vehicles, prompting the agent to call the police.

Footage shows the individual being led away in handcuffs. He was arrested, although the specific charges remain unclear.

An eyewitness reported that Ella and a friend, who were inside the restaurant throughout the incident, were quickly escorted to one of the SUVs visible in the video.

The Secret Service confirmed to TMZ that the individual tampered with their licence plate without provocation, leading to his detention and arrest. They emphasised that at no point was their protectee, Ella Emhoff, in danger.

Requests for comments from Doug Emhoff’s representatives have not yet been answered.
