Wesley Snipes returns as Blade in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ thanks to Ryan Reynolds’ call
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to expand with the release of "Deadpool & Wolverine," a film that has delighted fans with its unexpected cameos and tributes to previous Marvel movies. One of the most surprising returns is Wesley Snipes reprising his role as Blade, a character he thought he had left behind until Ryan Reynolds called him back for this special appearance.
"Deadpool & Wolverine" features a star-studded cast with several surprising cameos, including Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Dafne Keen as X-23, and Wesley Snipes as Blade. Snipes spoke to Entertainment Weekly (EW) about his unexpected return to the role of the iconic vampire hunter. Reflecting on his past conversations with Marvel, Snipes said, “Over the years, we've had very interesting conversations, some of them very substantive and some of them not. So I kind of resided that I was moving on from them, which is okay. I did three of them, and I thought they turned out pretty good. Not so bad... So we move on to other things, and bigger and better things, as well.”
The "Blade" trilogy, led by Snipes, was produced before the concept of shared universes like the MCU and DCU became a major factor in studio planning. Despite his success in the role, Snipes had accepted that his time as Blade was over. However, his return in "Deadpool & Wolverine" offers a nostalgic nod to the character and his contributions to the superhero genre.
"Deadpool & Wolverine" has performed exceptionally well at the box office, adding to its acclaim with these notable cameo appearances. Ryan Reynolds’ involvement in bringing back beloved characters like Blade demonstrates the film's dedication to honoring the legacy of Marvel's cinematic history.
