Palestinian journalist and filmmaker Bisan Owda has achieved a notable milestone with her nomination for the News & Documentary Emmy Awards.

Owda’s series, “It’s Bisan from Gaza and I’m Still Alive,” has received acclaim for its powerful and honest portrayal of life in Gaza.

Since October 7, Owda has been diligently capturing her daily experiences in Gaza, providing an authentic look into the challenges and resilience of the Palestinian people.

Her series has struck a chord with global audiences, offering an unfiltered view of the conditions under occupation.

In June, Owda was honoured with a Peabody Award for the same series. She received the award from a refugee camp in Gaza, becoming one of the youngest recipients in the award's history. This recognition from both the Peabody Awards and the Emmy Awards highlights the significance of her work in journalism and documentary filmmaking.

The winners of the Emmy Awards will be announced at the end of September. Owda’s nomination reflects not only a personal achievement but also the impact of storytelling in addressing critical issues and amplifying marginalized voices.

Her work remains influential, bringing attention to the human stories often overlooked in mainstream media.
