In a revealing July 2024 Complex cover story, Eminem engaged in a "spirited conversation" with an AI-generated version of Slim Shady, his infamous alter ego. During the interview, the 51-year-old rapper didn't hold back, blaming Slim Shady for nearly ruining both his career and personal life.

Reflecting on the turbulent period surrounding the release of "Slim Shady" (1997) and "The Slim Shady LP" (1999), Eminem expressed his frustration with the persona he created. "You didn't fix anything. You actually made that s*** worse," he told Slim Shady. "You're the reason I had to self-medicate. Because of you I almost lost my f***ing career, my f***ing family, my life."

Eminem recently bid farewell to Slim Shady in his conceptual album "The Death of Slim Shady: Coup De Grâce," acknowledging the growth he and his fanbase have experienced. However, the rapper still feels haunted by his past, citing Gen Z's frequent "discovery" and subsequent "canceling" of Slim Shady on social media.
