Excise dept abolishes 5% tax relief

RAWALPINDI:

The Department of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control has abolished the 5% discount on gross tax that was eligible for online submissions of property tax.

As of now, taxpayers who submit tax through online payment will be required to submit the entire property tax while 5 to 10 per cent discount has been given to taxpayers who submit property tax and vehicle token tax by September 30, 2024.

Earlier, property tax payers were given five per cent rebate for each time they filed the tax online. This exception has been abolished while 5 per cent discount will be given for complete submission of property tax and 10 per cent discount for submission of vehicle token tax by September 30.

The Director General of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has also issued strict instructions to meet all tax targets from July 1 to September 30 in the first quarter of the new financial year and orders have been issued to all excise inspectors and field staff to personally go to the field and make daily recoveries.

In response, all five zones of Rawalpindi Excise Department have speeded up recoveries.
