The much-anticipated action role-playing game "Avowed" is set to be released in the second half of 2024. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios, the game takes place in the same universe as "Pillars of Eternity," set in the world of Eora.

"Avowed" offers a mix of first-person and third-person perspectives. Players can utilize magic, melee weapons, and firearms to combat enemies. The game includes various spells, allowing feats like freezing enemies or entangling them. Players can create combos, such as crushing a frozen enemy with a sword. Quick-switch setups include dual pistols, dual wands, a two-handed axe, or a sword and shield combination.

The game features several skill trees for unlocking powerful abilities and upgrading weapons. While not a full open-world game, "Avowed" includes large open zones for exploration.

Set on the mysterious island of Living Lands, players, as envoys of Aedyr, must investigate a spreading plague that threatens to destroy everything. Obsidian Entertainment combines its experience from titles like "Fallout: New Vegas" and "The Outer Worlds" with the fantasy universe of "Pillars of Eternity," drawing inspiration from a later era of human history, incorporating early firearms alongside traditional magic and melee combat.

"Avowed" promises an immersive experience reminiscent of "The Elder Scrolls," with its unique blend of magic, weaponry, and non-traditional fantasy elements. Despite the anticipation, Obsidian Entertainment has yet to announce an exact release date.
