Trump criticizes Facebook and Google for censoring assassination attempt story

Donald Trump took to Truth Social to criticise Facebook and Google for allegedly suppressing the story about an attempted assassination against him. 

Trump accused both platforms of making it nearly impossible to find information or images related to the incident, suggesting this was another attempt to rig the election.

Facebook recently admitted to mistakenly censoring a popular image of Trump pumping his fist in the air after the assassination attempt. Meta Public Affairs Director Dani Lever explained that their systems had erroneously flagged the genuine photo as altered. The error stemmed from a doctored image of the event, which showed secret service agents smiling. 

Lever stated, "This was an error. This fact check was initially applied to a doctored photo showing the secret service agents smiling, and in some cases, our systems incorrectly applied that fact check to the real photo. This has been fixed, and we apologize for the mistake."

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, also accused Google of placing a search ban on Trump. Musk highlighted that searches for "president Donald" returned results for "president Donald Duck" and "president Donald Regan" instead of Trump, fueling further backlash over alleged censorship.

Trump called on his followers to challenge Meta and Google, asserting that people are now wise to these tactics and will be much tougher this time around, rallying support with his slogan, MAGA2024.
