Miley Cyrus & Selena Gomez's Disney crossover drama: The Nick Jonas connection

The mystery surrounding the lack of shared scenes between Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez in their Disney Channel crossover episode "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana" has been solved.

Jennifer Stone, who played Gomez's best friend on "Wizards of Waverly Place," recently revealed on the "Wizards of Waverly Pod" podcast that the reason was their mutual ex, Nick Jonas.

Stone explained that the two former Disney stars dated Jonas back-to-back, creating an awkward situation during the crossover filming. Cyrus dated Jonas from 2006 to 2007, while Gomez had an on-again, off-again relationship with him from 2008 to 2010.

This revelation sheds light on the rumored tension between Cyrus and Gomez during that time. However, Stone reassured listeners that the two are now on good terms, stating, "They're fine now. They're all good now."

Gomez herself addressed the awkwardness in a 2016 interview with W Magazine, saying, "We never feuded. We both liked the same guy when we were 16."   

The Disney Channel crossover event, which aired in 2009, featured characters from "Wizards of Waverly Place," "Hannah Montana," and "The Suite Life on Deck" embarking on a cruise together. While fans were excited to see their favorite stars interact, the lack of scenes between Cyrus and Gomez left many wondering about the behind-the-scenes dynamics.
