Thousands of people who couldn't get tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour show in Munich enjoyed the concert from a nearby hill.

Inside the stadium, Swift performed her set to an audience of 74,000 fans.

At the start of the concert, the Grammy-winning artist acknowledged the additional attendees outside the stadium while speaking to the crowd.

The trend of gathering outside Swift's concerts, dubbed "Taylor-gating," began shortly after she launched her blockbuster Eras Tour in the US last year.

Fans gather in streets, parks, and parking lots near concert venues to sing along and dance to their favorite songs playing from the stadium speakers.

Although some cities have discouraged fans from gathering outside venues without tickets, LBC reported that toilets and drink stations were set up in the park on the hill before the Munich show.

A clip shared on social media showed the hills outside the stadium crowded with people even before the stadium was filled.

The Olympiapark website describes the Olympic Hill as offering a  "magnificent view of the Olympic Park" and notes that it has "been a popular destination for enjoying free open-air concerts" for decades.

It also mentioned that the hill is available to "all those who want to listen to the world stars of rock and pop for free from their picnic blanket."
