Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has accused Google of placing a search ban on former US president and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Musk’s claims came after a Google search for “president Donald” yielded results for “president Donald Duck” and “president Donald Regan” instead of Trump.

Musk shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) and questioned, “Wow, Google has a search ban on President Donald Trump! Election interference?” He further stated that if Google is interfering with the US Presidential election, they are “getting themselves into a lot of trouble.”

The post sparked a heated debate on social media. One X user commented, “Google is owned by Democrats,” while another follower added, “Elon, I'm sure they'll claim you're suppressing the Democrats, but my algorithm shows me both parties posting their thoughts and opinions. Under the previous management, anyone who didn't share the same views as the left was limited or banned.” However, some users criticized Musk, pointing out his own platform’s alleged bias. “You have a search ban on so many accounts you don't like. What's the difference?” one user said.

The controversy arises amid a closely contested presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. According to a Wall Street Journal poll, Trump leads with 49 percent of the vote, while Harris follows closely with 47 percent. The poll indicates a surge in support for Harris among non-white voters and increased enthusiasm among Democrats for her campaign.

As of now, Google has not responded to Musk’s accusations. The situation continues to develop, and further updates are awaited.
