Prince William’s brief split from Kate Middleton and attempt to woo another woman
In 2007, Prince William and Kate Middleton's relationship hit a rough patch, leading to a brief separation.
During this time, William reportedly tried to pursue socialite Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, whom he had previously met on holiday in Greece.
According to royal expert Robert Jobson's new book, "Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography," Isabella, despite being single at the time, was not keen on becoming a royal girlfriend, as she felt it would limit her acting career. Jobson writes, "Despite his evident crush, she apparently rebuffed his advances."
This period was marked by William celebrating his newfound "freedom" with friends, including a night at Mayfair club Mahiki, where he loudly proclaimed his single status. However, this phase of his life was short-lived, and William eventually realised his mistake, leading to his reconciliation with Kate.
This challenging time highlighted the resilience of their relationship, which ultimately led to their marriage in 2011.
