Rod Stewart acknowledges his days are numbered, plans to keep rocking and partying
As Sir Rod Stewart approaches his 80th birthday in January, he has no plans to slow down his rock 'n' roll lifestyle. Speaking to The Sun from his home in Los Angeles, Stewart discussed his future plans, health, and ongoing performances. "I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear," he said, emphasizing his desire to enjoy life as much as possible.
Stewart, who has had both prostate and thyroid cancer, is now more health-conscious but continues to indulge in his love for performing and partying. He explained, “Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show. The older you get, the more you have to do that.” Despite these precautions, he still enjoys a drink, favoring Martinis and occasionally Bacardi, which he jokingly claims is good for his voice.
Rod's commitment to fitness remains strong, as he has had the same trainer for 31 years and works out regularly. He is also building a running track at his UK home with the goal of breaking the 100m sprint record for his age group. "I am currently building a track at my house in Essex and I am going to try to beat the world record for a 79-year-old," he said.
Stewart is wrapping up his final residency in Las Vegas but is planning a UK tour with Jools Holland. He reflected on his time in Vegas, noting, "I’ve done this album with Jools and we are trying to work out when we can do a short tour. I absolutely love the place."
As he prepares for his milestone birthday, Stewart is leaving the celebration plans to his wife, Penny Lancaster. "I have left my 80th up to my darling wife Penny but she has big plans afoot which she is not allowing me to talk about," he revealed. Despite the challenges of aging, Stewart remains optimistic and focused on enjoying his life and career.
