Grimes' mother accuses Elon Musk of withholding children from visiting ailing great-grandmother
Grimes' mother, Sandy Garossino, has publicly accused Elon Musk of preventing their children from visiting their ailing great-grandmother in Canada.
In a heartfelt "grandmother’s plea" shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, July 27, Garossino, a columnist for Canada's National Observer, expressed her concerns in a series of posts formatted like a letter.
"Dear Elon @elonmusk It was nice seeing you on Father’s Day. I hope you got the card that I helped X make. He was so proud of it," she began.
Garossino continued, "I’m writing here as the only way I have to reach you. As you know, my 93-year-old mother is now in end-of-life palliative care. She yearns to see and hold Claire’s children one last time. Especially the youngest, whom she has not yet met."
Garossino revealed that her mother was initially thrilled to see the children, X Æ A-Xii, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 2½, and Techno “Tau” Mechanicus, on her birthday, but those hopes were dashed when the trip was canceled.
"I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from Claire," she claimed.
Garossino expressed further distress upon seeing Musk and one of their children on television at the Olympics in Paris, questioning the whereabouts of the other children.
Writing "with a grandmother’s plea," Garossino implored Musk to honor his agreement and allow the children to visit their great-grandmother.
"Some moments in life last forever, and we get no second chances. Family is priceless," she emphasized.
In her final post, Garossino directly addressed Musk, saying, "Please Elon, I beg you. This is so painful for my mother, and concerning for the kids. Time is of the essence now."
Representatives for Musk and Grimes have not yet responded to requests for comment. Grimes and Musk, who were first linked romantically in May 2018, have had an on-and-off relationship, finally parting ways in March 2022.
Despite their breakup, Grimes has described Musk as her "best friend and the love of my life," dedicating her life and art to what she refers to as "The Mission."
