Kevin Smith, a close friend of Ben Affleck, has recently commented on Affleck’s current marital situation with Jennifer Lopez.

Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Smith mentioned that Affleck will inform him when he is "in a good place" regarding his personal issues.

“Obviously, he’s been going through a thing, or at least that’s what it says in the press and whatnot,” Smith told People.

Smith disclosed that although his wife suggested he should contact Affleck, he chose not to. “I, being his least trustworthy friend who’s very loose-lipped … my wife was like, ‘Oh, you should reach out to him,’” Smith explained. “I was like, ‘The last person he needs to hear from right now is the guy who chats a lot,’” he added.

Smith plans to reconnect with Affleck when he starts filming the next “Jay and Silent Bob” movie this fall. “I’ll be reaching out to him,” Smith said. “He may even come play, but I haven’t been anywhere near the situation.”

The two have collaborated on multiple projects, including “Chasing Amy,” “Dogma,” and “Clerks II.” Smith also directed Affleck in “Jersey Girl,” which featured Lopez.

Smith attended Affleck and Lopez’s second wedding in August 2022, where he was emotional and described the event as “goddamn beautiful.”

Recent reports indicate that Affleck and Lopez have been spending significant time apart, including their second wedding anniversary and Lopez’s 55th birthday.

Sources revealed to Page Six that their marriage might have been over for months.
