PAC to organise photo exhibit on I-Day

Other festivities will feature Azadi train, Independence Day floats

With Pakistan’s Independence Day just a few weeks away, preparations are being made to celebrate Independence Day on 14 August.

The festivities will feature a Jashan Azadi train and Independence Day floats created by the Punjab Arts Council, which will circle the city. Fireworks display are planned for the nights of August 13 and 14. All government and semi-government buildings will be adorned with colourful flags and lights.

Various organisations will also organise Independence Day rallies, and sweets and fruits will be distributed to prisoners in jails, hospitals and orphanages. Flag hoisting ceremonies will take place at Adiala Jail, Commissioner's Office, High Court Bar, District Bar and all universities.

A guard of honour will be held in civil defense and police lines. Special independence celebrations and tableau dramas will be presented in government and private schools. Markets and bazaars in the city will be decorated with colourful flags. Government office employees will wear national flag badges from August 1 to August 14.

Inmates in prisons will receive relief and amnesty in the spirit of Independence Day. National flag-themed items, including various badges, children’s garments, dupattas, and shirts, have been prepared. Stalls selling these items will be set up along roadsides throughout the city.

Political parties will also hold Independence Day rallies. Prizes will be distributed to students who achieve first and second place in swimming competitions in educational institutions. The Punjab Arts Council will organise a picture exhibition of the Tehreek-e-Pakistan Movement.
