PWPA chief assures victimised women of help

LAHORE:

The Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority (PWPA), Hina Pervaiz Butt, met several women victims of abuse and their families during a visit to Mahiwal and Sukhekee Mandi.

She assured the victims of justice, as well as financial and legal assistance.

“It is imperative to discourage sexual harassment, domestic violence and all forms of torture against women," she said on the occasion.

"The Punjab government will provide all kinds of legal support to the affected women," she added. "There will be no compromise on ensuring the protection of women," Hina Pervaiz Butt asserted.

She directed the senior police officers in all districts to take immediate action on complaints from victimised women. "Good behaviour by the police towards women is the first step to justice," she emphasised.

"If women's voices are heard in police stations, it is certain that the perpetrators will be punished," she asserted.
