Karachi is expected to see moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms on Monday due to a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal. The Met Office on Sunday predicted strong winds and possible thunderstorms, with the rainfall likely to continue intermittently until Tuesday.

The low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal has begun affecting Sindh after impacting the Indian states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Under its influence, the Pakistan Meteorological Department's (PMD) Early Warning Centre has forecast moderate to heavy rains with thunderstorms for Karachi on Monday and Tuesday.

According to the Early Warning Centre, a powerful monsoon system is entering Sindh, expected to bring rainfall on Monday and Tuesday.

The system may cause intermittent rain and thunderstorms in various rural districts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Badin, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Thatta, Jamshoro, Dadu, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, and Benazirabad until July 30.

On Sunday morning, Karachi experienced partly to fully cloudy weather, which later cleared up with bright sunshine. The maximum temperature recorded was 35.5 degrees Celsius, an increase of 0.9 degrees from the previous day. The humidity levels rose to 65%, making the weather feel hotter than the actual temperature.

The monsoon rains have also arrived in Punjab, promising to douse the scorching heat and humidity with afternoon and nighttime showers for the next few days.

The PMD forecasted significant rain during the afternoon and nighttime in Lahore, which is expected to provide much-needed relief from the intense heat and humidity.

According to PMD, the rain will reduce the humidity and heat levels, and this monsoon shower is predicted to continue intermittently for the next three to four days.

In response to the anticipated heavy rains, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert.

On July 26, the heavy downpour in several parts of the city led to water accumulation on the streets, posing challenges for residents. Following the late-night rain, district administration, along with Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) officials, were seen actively working to manage the water drainage.
