San Diego Comic-Con 2024 revealed exciting details about the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, set for release on February 14, 2025.

Anthony Mackie, returning as Sam Wilson, will take on the mantle of Captain America with a new shield and significant responsibilities.

Harrison Ford, aged 82, joins the Marvel Universe as Thaddeus Ross, a role previously held by William Hurt, who passed away in 2022. Ford will also appear as a red version of the Hulk.

During the Comic-Con panel, Ford expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Marvel franchise, stating, "I am delighted and I am proud to become a member of the Marvel Universe. I have been watching fantastic actors having a good time… and I wanted a piece of the action. Fantastic! Marvelous, even.”

The panel also featured Tim Blake Nelson, Danny Ramirez, and Giancarlo Esposito, with Esposito cast as Sidewinder.

Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige highlighted that this instalment will offer a "grounded" approach to the MCU. Mackie discussed the challenges of his role, mentioning, “I never realised how heavy the shield was, and my costume is pretty heavy. I couldn’t have a better group of people…to help me with that responsibility.” Directed by Julius Onah, the film also stars Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, and Liv Tyler.

According to Marvel Studios, the plot centres around Sam Wilson navigating an international crisis involving the newly elected U.S. President (Ford) while uncovering a global conspiracy. Captain America: Brave New World follows Avengers: Endgame (2019) and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).

Captain America: Brave New World is part of Marvel’s Phase Five, concluding with Thunderbolts on May 5, 2025. The film's release follows Deadpool & Wolverine on July 26, 2024.
