The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory for potential monsoon rains, wind, and thundershowers from July 28 to 31.

Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to affect the upper parts of Pakistan during this period.

The NDMA has instructed all relevant departments to take necessary precautions to mitigate the possible effects of flooding and extreme weather.

Under the influence of this system, rainfall may trigger landslides, mudslides, or falling boulders, potentially disrupting roads in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galiyat, Murree, Gilgit Baltistan, and the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K).

Additionally, rainfall may cause flash flooding in local nullahs, with hill torrents likely to trigger in the Sulaiman and Kirthar Ranges, as well as in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.

The public is advised to avoid floodwaters and seek safe locations away from flood-prone areas.

Even six inches of moving water can knock a person off their feet, and one foot of water can sweep away a vehicle.

Bridges can become hazardous during floods, and crossing them should be avoided if water is flowing rapidly.

The NDMA has launched the 'Pak NDMA Disaster Alert' application, available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store, to provide timely alerts, advisories, and guidelines to the public.
