FIR lodged against ABS doctor for inappropriate advances
The woman who was subjected to harassment and intimidation by the OPD in-charge of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ABS), finally took decision and lodged an FIR against him.
The victim, Jamila, told The Express Tribune on Saturday that she is the mother of the late Muhammad Hamza, a nine-year-old boy with severe physical and mental disabilities.
Hamza was admitted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on June 20 for pneumonia treatment. Jamila described how she initially encountered the accused doctor when she went to fetch milk for her son. The doctor, the in-charge of the OPD, offered his contact number, promising assistance. Jamila provided her own number in the hope of receiving better care. However, this exchange led to a series of harassment incidents.
According to Jamila, the doctor made inappropriate advances and frequently contacted her despite her repeated refusals. She reported that the doctor brought other unrelated medical professionals to the ICU and asked her to meet him. On one occasion, he even forcibly touched her while she was with her ailing son. "Legal action must be taken against him to ensure that no woman is ever coerced or exploited again in the future," she stated in the FIR registered at Nazimabad police station.
