K-P CM vows restoring peace across province

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur categorically declared that permission would not be granted for a military operations in the province.

This he said on Friday during a public rally in Bannu. He emphasised the region's commitment to maintaining peace and safeguarding the rights and sacrifices of the Pakhtun people.

Gandapur strongly criticised the historical misuse of the Pakhtun name for financial gain from foreign entities, especifically when it came to procuring funds from the US.

"We will not allow anyone to continue with the bloodshed," he stated. The chief minister highlighted the community's longstanding sacrifices for Pakistan, including those in Kashmir.

He asserted the autonomy of the provincial government, declaring that K-P would make its own decisions and reject any external impositions. "No armed fighters will be allowed to disturb the peace of the province," Gandapur declared, reinforcing his administration's stance against violence.

Addressing the recent decisions of the Apex Committee, Gandapur expressed concern over attempts to sabotage peace efforts. However, he assured that the provincial government respected the students of madrassahs and would provide them with all necessary facilities under the youth programme.

Gandapur also committed to fighting against corruption, terrorism, and drug mafias before paying tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces and police. He asserted that their sacrificeswould always be remembered.

As the chairman of the K-P apex committee, he promised to meet any additional demands to ensure peace and development in the region.

The CM announced the construction of a new sports ground for the youth of Bannu, emphasising that the development projects would proceed without unnecessary publicity, as they are funded by taxpayers' money.

Earlier in the event, Professor Ibrahim Malak Pakhtoon Yar Khan, and other local leaders, honoured the people of Bannu for their sacrifices.They believed that the CM'sresolute message underscored the provincial government's dedication to peace and development, ensuring that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can look forward to a stable and prosperous future.

On Thursday, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa apex committee announced it would seek the formation of a judicial commission to probe the attack on an army cantonment in Bannu.

The committee would request the chief justice of Pakistan to form the commission and also conduct an independent inquiry into the incident to identify those responsible.

To prevent similar incidents in future, the apex body recommended the formation of committees at the divisional and district levels. These committees would be chaired by commissioners and deputy commissioners.

The meeting of the apex committee was chaired by K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and attended by the Peshawar corps commander, K-P chief secretary, IGP, five members of the Bannu Aman Jirga, and other officials.

In the concluding declaration of the apex committee meeting, it was emphasised that the primary objective of the gathering was to solidify the collaborative efforts of the K-P government, Pakistan Army and the police to eradicate terrorism and establish lasting peace.

Keeping recent events in mind, the CM issued directives for a comprehensive policy to restore peace and order in the province by eliminating terrorism. The recommendations of this policy were presented to the apex committee.

"In the wake of two unfortunate incidents in Bannu, local leaders played a crucial role in diffusing the situation by engaging in dialogue and cooperation with the administration and institutions," it was stated.
