CM inaugurates Virtual Child Safety Centre

Promises prompt response to complaints

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan’s first Virtual Child Safety Centre on Friday.

In addition, the Emergency 15 upgraded centre has been equipped with 28 new features as part of safety initiatives for the people of the province. A WhatApp number has been added to the helpline and a Pink Button Safety Zone has been launched for seeking police assistance. CM Maryam Nawaz also inaugurated a School of Police Technologies and Artificial Intelligence along with the Alberoni Institute of Research and Innovation. The chief minister inaugurated an auditorium and a video wall at the Safe Cities Authority, and laid the foundation stone of a women’s hostel. She set the deadline of January next year for the completion of the hostel.

She was informed during a briefing that 28 features had been introduced in the emergency helpline service. The facility to communicate in Urdu, English and regional languages has been introduced, feedback can be obtained from the caller through ‘robo call’, the location of the police van deputed for the assistance and the response time can be acquired.

The CM announced that the Safe Cities Authority would become functional in 18 more cities in the next few months. She said the authority had started providing service in Seraiki, Potohari and English languages, which was a highly appreciable step. It has also launched a call back facility.

She said 15,000 vehicles were linked with the Safe City system. For responding to emergency called in addition to 200 operators of the Dolphin Force.
