Three die in Nowshera coal mine

In yet another tragic incident, three miners hailing from Shangla district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) died when a coal mine suddenly filled with poisonous gases in the Khairabad area of Nowshera district.
Two siblings are also among the dead. All three unfortunate miners belong to the same village and were relatives.
Hundreds of workers from Shangla district have died in fatal accidents in coal mines in different parts of the country without inviting any attention from the quarters concerned.
More than 15 miners have died in different accidents in July alone.
The unfortunate inhabitants of Shangla are now getting used to receiving the bodies of loved ones every few days.
This coal mine accident took place on Thursday night in which Bakhtzada, Amin Ali, and Azimullah died on the spot. The bodies were shifted to their native village where they were buried in an ancestral graveyard.
Lack of safety gear and other preventive measures often result in deadly accidents in coal mines and government has completely failed in improving this situation despite the repeated demands from the miner workers.
