Police assaulted during raid on drug den

Six personnel of Pattoki Saddar police station were attacked by a group of local people while raiding a place to arrest a suspected drug dealer.

According to police officials, SHO Muhammad Amin and Constable Ali Ahmed suffered severe injuries in the attack and were admitted to a hospital in Lahore.

The police team had gone to the Wan Adhan area to arrest the suspect.

According to the police, the Saddar police arrested Rafiq Bhatti on the charge of drug peddling, after which a man named Abid called local people and asked them not to let the officials escape.

The police said about 70 people from the area attacked the team with sticks, bricks and gunshots, injuring six policemen. SHO Amin, Sibghatullah, Saad, Wajid, Munawar and Ali were injured in the incident.

They were transferred the Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

From there, SHO Muhammad Amin and Constable Ali were referred to a hospital in Lahore because of their critical condition.

As soon as information about ye incident was received, Kasur DPO Muhammad Isa Khan reached the spot and visited the injured police personnel in the THQ hospital.
