Hindu leaders consulted on marriage registration

Minister promises to make process easy, effective

LAHORE:

Punjab Minorities Affairs Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora presided over a consultative meeting regarding registration of the Hindu marriages in the province on Thursday.

The purpose of the meeting was to make the process of legal registration of Hindu community marriages easier and more effective. The minister said, "We understand the problems of the Hindu community and will provide full support to facilitate their marriage registration process."

Leaders of the Hindu community presented proposals and discussed the prevailing issues in detail. Krishan Sharma said, "We hope that soon we will see a solution to our problems." Professor Sabir Naz said it would be better to include all the representatives of the Hindu community in the consultation.

The minister assured the participants that the process would be taken forward only after consultation of all the stakeholders.

The participants expressed their commitment that to solve all the problems through mutual cooperation and consultation and devise a system that would make the registration of Hindu marriages easy and effective.

Punjab Human Rights Secretary Ali Bahadur Qazi, deputy secretary for minorities, Pakistan Hindu Mandir Management Committee President Krishan Sharma and others were present.
