Yuki Tsunoda to wear ‘Valorant’ themed helmet at Spa race
Yuki Tsunoda will wear a Valorant-themed helmet at the Spa race, featuring Jett from the game.
Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda will sport a Valorant-themed helmet this weekend at the iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, commonly known as Spa. The helmet's design, revealed on Tsunoda’s social media accounts, showcases the usual Red Bull branding and other sponsors, but prominently features an image of Jett from Valorant on the back. The Valorant logo is also displayed on the top of the helmet, situated between Tsunoda’s first name and his race number.
Tsunoda, who drives for the Red Bull team, expressed his excitement about the helmet, stating he is "locked in the Valorant this weekend for the race." The unique design has generated significant interest on social media, with fans praising the distinctive Jett artwork. This collaboration is likely part of the promotional campaign for Valorant’s recent launch on consoles. Despite the challenges of adapting the game's precise aiming mechanics for controllers, the development team has successfully created a control scheme that works well, minimizing differences between PC and console versions.
Although there is limited evidence suggesting Tsunoda is a major Valorant fan, he has participated in various game-based activations over the years. This new helmet design aligns with Riot Games’ broader marketing strategy, leveraging Tsunoda’s popularity to reach a wider audience. Spa is a beloved track on the F1 calendar, and the race is expected to attract millions of viewers globally, offering significant exposure for the Valorant branding.
Tsunoda currently ranks 12th in the 2024 driver’s championship, with twice the points of his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo. Despite a crash during qualifying at the last race in Hungary, Tsunoda secured ninth place, earning two points for the championship. His team, Red Bull, is currently sixth in the constructors' championship, holding a six-point lead over Haas in seventh place.
