Josh Allen and Daniel Ricciardo star in Beats' new comedic short film ‘The Legend of Ricallen’
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo have teamed up in a new comedic short film ad for Beats titled "The Legend of Ricallen." The six-and-a-half-minute film, released Wednesday, showcases their friendship and humor as they embark on the fictional endeavor of buying a racehorse.
The film opens with Allen and Ricciardo FaceTiming and brainstorming ways to elevate their friendship, eventually settling on the idea of owning a racehorse. "It’s now the legend of Ric. There’s no more Ricallen," Ricciardo joked in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after Allen was unable to join the call.
The idea for the film came through their partnerships with Beats, and both were eager to participate. Ricciardo described the experience as the "funnest work day," while Allen enjoyed the entire process, from the initial strategy to the final release. "Ricallen has been a unique experience from start to finish," Allen said. "The creative on this one has allowed us both to have fun with it and that’ll be clear when it airs."
Despite their busy schedules, both athletes found time for this project. Allen recently began training camp with the Buffalo Bills and expressed optimism for the upcoming season. Ricciardo, currently driving for Red Bull’s RB F1 team, has become a fan favorite through his appearances on Netflix's "Formula 1: Drive to Survive." He emphasized that such projects can be beneficial rather than distracting, stating, "At the end of the day, you can also learn a lot about yourself in situations like this."
