Miguel, recently eliminated from Claim to Fame, discusses his surprising departure and the familial support he received during a challenging period.

Following the recent double elimination, Miguel was caught off guard when he mistakenly guessed Dedrick's celebrity relative as Little Richard. This mistake led to Miguel’s elimination and the revelation of his true identity as Jamie Lee Curtis's nephew.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Miguel, whose real name is Raphael Curtis, expressed a mix of triumph and shock at having deceived his fellow contestants.

He described being labelled a “wolf in sheep's clothing” as a significant ego boost. “I like it when people underestimate me because then I can show them otherwise,” Raphael explained.

Despite the dramatic guess-off with Dedrick, Raphael mentioned that their relationship remains intact. He revealed that Dedrick was calm and supportive despite the surprising decision.

“We both teamed up knowing this is a competition, this is a TV show,” Raphael said. “So the connection that we do have isn't going to get affected by the decisions we make.”

Raphael also opened up about a personal crisis involving his mother, Allegra Curtis. He recalled how Jamie Lee Curtis provided crucial support during his mother’s sudden medical emergency.

“It was really crucial for the support that [she] gave me,” Raphael noted, acknowledging the assistance that helped him manage the situation.

Now motivated to support his family and prove himself, Raphael expressed pride in his achievements. He mentioned that his mother, who has been supportive of his Claim to Fame journey, is doing better and enjoys watching the show with him.

As the season progresses, Raphael hints at more surprises in the upcoming finale. “Expect the unexpected,” he teased.

Claim to Fame airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
