Small dams take centre stage in K-P

PESHAWAR:

A key meeting of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Irrigation department was told that as many as 56 small dams have been completed, while work on another 30 was in full swing. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s House on Wednesday with K-P CM Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in the chair.

Irrigation Minister Aqibullah Khan, CM’s Principal Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, CM’s Special Secretary Waqar Ali Khan, Irrigation Secretary Tahir Orakzai and other relevant officials attended the meeting.

The meeting took a detailed review of small dam projects being executed in the province. The participants on this occasion were also briefed about the proposed potential projects, issues and impediments hindering the progress of certain projects and future course of action in this regard. It was informed in the meeting that a total of 56 small dams have been completed in the province with a total storage capacity of 281,410 acre feet and cultivable command area of 312,263 acres.

Similarly, it was informed that work on 30 Small Dams projects is also in progress. These projects would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs.43.6 billion.
