Police have solved the mystery of a blind murder in Orangi Town six days ago by arresting the victim's wife and her two accomplices. The arrests were made following the recovery of the murder weapon and the motorcycle used in the crime.
While addressing a press conference at his office, District West SSP Hafeezur Rahman Bugti said that the victim, identified as Yasin, was shot dead outside his house near Insaf Chowk in Raja Tanveer Colony on July 18. The case was registered at Iqbal Market police station on the complaint of the deceased's brother Muhammad Farooq.
According to SSP Bugti, CCTV footage obtained from cameras at the crime scene showed the suspects waiting for the victim outside his house. Police arrested Maria, the victim's wife, along with Bilal and Hamza Afridi. A 30-bore pistol and the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, Maria confessed to planning her husband's murder with her friend Hamza, who, aided by Bilal, carried out the fatal shooting.
Investigators had earlier questioned another suspect, identified as Kashif, alias Kashu, who broke down under hard interrogation of the police in the remand room and spilled the beans. Kashu revealed that Maria had first approached him with a plan to kill her husband, however, he refused. On his refusal, Maria roped in her other friends to do away with her husband, Kashu told the police.
Subsequently, on his pointation, police picked up Maria for questioning. Once inside the dreaded remand room, she cracked down under interrogation and confessed to her crime.
SSP Bugti said that the motive behind the murder was immediately not known.
