Elon Musk denies $45 million monthly donation to pro-Trump PAC in Jordan Peterson interview
Elon Musk has denied recent reports claiming he plans to donate $45 million per month to a political group supporting former President Donald Trump.
The Tesla CEO, who has endorsed Trump, clarified his position during an interview with conservative commentator Jordan B. Peterson on Monday.
“What’s been reported in the media is simply not true,” Musk told Peterson.
“I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump.”
He reiterated this stance on Twitter, stating, “I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom.”
Musk, 53, explained that while he helped create America PAC, which aims to support core American principles, it is not intended to be a hyper-partisan entity.
“It’s actually the core principles this America PAC are, the intent is to promote the principles that made America great in the first place. I wouldn’t say that I’m, for example, MAGA, or Make America Great Again. I think America is great. I’m more M-A-G, Make America Greater.”
The super PAC, created in Austin, Texas, in May, has reportedly spent $21 million on independent expenditures focused on voter turnout, particularly in swing states.
Musk emphasized that his support for the GOP does not mean he believes the party is flawless, nor does he subscribe “to a cult of personality.”
Despite his reservations, Musk praised Trump for showing “true courage” after surviving a shooting attempt at a Pennsylvania rally earlier this month.
“I think we need a change in administration,” Musk concluded.
