Taylor Swift and Drake battle it out for the most hits on the Billboard Hot 100

Making a debut on the Billboard Hot 100 is a major milestone for any artist. As Billboard's top songs chart, reaching it requires a perfect blend of talent and timing to join the ranks of the very best.

The Hot 100 combines data from U.S. streaming (both audio and video), radio airplay, and sales, including physical singles and digital tracks from major music retailers. Since the chart's inception on August 4, 1958, over 8,000 artists have had a song featured on the Hot 100. Among them, only 19 have managed to chart 100 or more songs.

Elvis Presley, whose career began before the Hot 100's debut, was the first artist to achieve 100 chart hits. He reached his 100th hit, out of a total of 109, with "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" in May 1975. Presley held the record for the most chart entries until 2011 when the Glee Cast surpassed him and nearly doubled the record, achieving 207 entries. This record lasted until 2020, when Drake broke it with the debut of his song "Oprah’s Bank Account."

Drake currently holds the record for the most Hot 100 entries, with a staggering 333 hits as of the chart dated July 27, 2024. He is the only artist to have charted 300 or more songs. The only other artists with at least 200 entries are Taylor Swift (264) and the Glee cast (207).

In 2023, three artists entered the 100-hits club: YoungBoy Never Broke Again reached this milestone in May, becoming the youngest artist to do so at age 23; Lil Uzi Vert joined in July following the release of Pink Tape, becoming the 14th artist to achieve this feat; and Travis Scott entered the club on August 12 with his album Utopia. 

In 2024, four more artists have joined: 21 Savage became the 16th artist to reach this milestone with his album American Dream; Beyoncé followed with the release of Cowboy Carter; The Weeknd joined thanks to his collaborations on Future and Metro Boomin’s We Still Don’t Trust You; and Eminem entered the club with his album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).

Looking ahead to who might next join the elite group, the artists nearing 100 career entries include Bad Bunny (94 entries), Young Thug (93), Lil Durk (92), the late James Brown (91), J. Cole (87), Metro Boomin (87), Gunna (86), Ariana Grande (84), and the late Juice WRLD (80).

Though it's uncommon for artists to achieve triple-digit entries on the Hot 100, it has become more frequent since the chart began incorporating streaming data in 2007. This change has allowed artists to accumulate a significant number of charted songs, especially following the release of high-profile albums. This is a shift from previous decades when artists typically promoted one single at a time through physical sales and radio, explaining why recent years have seen a surge in artists charting numerous songs in a short period.

Here’s an updated look at every act to chart 100 or more career hits on the Hot 100, as of the July 27, 2024-dated chart:

Drake
Total Hot 100 hits: 333. He achieved his 100th entry in 2015 with What a Time To Be Alive alongside Future, his 200th in 2019 with Care Package, and his record-extending 300th in 2023 with For All the Dogs. He remains the only artist to have reached 300 songs on the chart.

Taylor Swift
Total Hot 100 hits: 264. She hit 100 entries in 2020 with Folklore and reached 200 hits in July 2023 following the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Glee Cast
Total Hot 100 hits: 207. The cast reached its 100th hit in 2010 with Glee: The Music, Season Two: Volume 4, and surpassed 200 hits in 2012 when their versions of “Hungry Like The Wolf” and “Somebody That I Used to Know” debuted simultaneously.

Future
Total Hot 100 hits: 199. He achieved his 100th entry in 2020 with High Off Life.

Lil Wayne
Total Hot 100 hits: 186. He reached his 100th entry in 2012.

Kanye West
Total Hot 100 hits: 157. He scored his 100th hit in 2019.

Nicki Minaj
Total Hot 100 hits: 148. Minaj was the first woman to reach 100 hits and remains the only female rapper in the club. She hit her 100th entry in 2018.

Lil Baby
Total Hot 100 hits: 141. He entered the 100-hits club in 2022.

Chris Brown
Total Hot 100 hits: 117. He achieved 100 hits in 2020.

Travis Scott
Total Hot 100 hits: 117. He reached his 100th entry in 2023 with Utopia.

Eminem
Total Hot 100 hits: 112. He became the 19th artist to join the club in July 2024 with The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace).
