ISLAMABAD:

On the instructions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the largest plantation campaign in the history of the capital has been officially launched on the Margalla Hills to combat environmental pollution, enhance the city’s beauty, and protect wildlife.

Four million saplings will be planted during this drive. The interior minister has tasked the Capital Development Authority’s chairman with ensuring the success of the Margalla Hills plantation.

He has directed the use of all available resources to restore the original beauty of the Margalla Hills and protect the plants.

Naqvi emphasised that the damage caused by recent fire incidents due to heat waves on the Margalla Hills will be addressed. The minister has also ordered digital monitoring of the planted saplings.

He noted that instead of decorative trees, fruit and flowering plants will be planted to make Islamabad greener.

The campaign will continue for 60 days.
